Don’t get textual in China

Link: JURIST – Paper Chase: Foreigners face deportation for texting porn, disturbing order under new China law.

China’s new Law on Public Security Administrative Penalties [text in Chinese; press release] took effect Wednesday, creating 165 new offenses and setting maximum penalties ranging from 200 yuan ($25 US) to 15 days detention for Chinese citizens all the way to deportation for foreigners.

I wonder what sort of punishment you’d get if you sent an MMS or even a movie, rather than just a text message? ;-)

So, reminder: If you’re off to China any time soon, be careful what you text.
