Nokia N90 - to buy, or not to buy

Picture_3_4

Oh decisions, decisions.  To buy an N90 or not?

When I saw the quality of the N90 videos the other day I immediately resolved to buy one.  I scoured ebay for a sweet deal.  Then I took a look at Expansys (picture to the left from there) to see what the actual price was running at.

£414 including VAT, just recently reduced.

Oh the dilemma.

The next issue is that it’s old technology.  From memory this phone was launched in August.  That’s August 2005. Not far off a year ago.  A decade ago in terms of technical
advances.  What’s the point in shelling out 400 pounds for an old device when Nokia are set to launch the next version, the N92, any time soon?

My brother arrived with one this morning and waved it at me.  How annoying.  He got it on an o2 contract at a subsidised rate from www.mobileshop.com.  £109 for the phone, £20 a month for 12 months, 1,000 any network off-peak and 100 texts a month.

Hold on?

That’s not a bad deal actually.  Should I, shouldn’t I?

I took him aside and asked his view on the N92 (shown on the left).  He said he liked the concept of the N92, but that in practice, he wanted a ‘proper flip phone’ for when he’s talking on the phone.  Fair point.

The N92 looks a bit sexy, doesn’t it?

The major question here is whether I should bother getting another handset.  I’m reasonably content with the wealth of Sony Ericsson handsets floating around my desk at the moment.

But the N90/N92… hmmm.  Maybe.
