8 year old’s RSI from texting

Link: Eight-year-old text queen has repetitive strain injury | the Daily Mail.

Caught this one in the Daily Mail….

An eight-year-old girl has been diagnosed with repetitive strain injury after texting too much on her mobile phone.

Isabelle Taylor sends so many messaged to her friends every day she has damaged her wrist and hands as a result.

If you have a look at the article, you’ll see the 8 year old is shown holding an age-old Nokia. One of those get-em-in-a-Christmas-cracker phones.

What responsible parent,

a) let’s their child text until they develop RSI?
b) pays the phone bill on THAT amount of texts (to get RSI, surely she must be doing 100s a day?)
c) doesn’t realise that an 8 year old’s developing body doesn’t quite fit with complex and repetitive thumb movements required for constant texting?

It’s a super SHOCK HORROR Daily Mail story.

The solution, of course, is a Blackberry. ;-)
AND while we’re at it, can’t Crickee, Hotxt, Juize or Tex2me phone her up (heh, no wait: text her) and get her a decent new handset complete with FREE (or low low low cost) messaging?

Come on people! Engage your PR machines!
