Gomobo.com and pizza

Just a thought on my 10 questions with Noah from Gomobo.com post.

I almost ordered a pizza yesterday afternoon.  It’s a total arse having to phone someone at my local Pizza Hut.

Their information management system is appalling.  Every Pizza Hut is the same.

EVERY time I call, I have to go through the 3 minute excruiciating  ordering experience.

Goes something like this:

1. Can I take a name?
2. What’s your address?
3. What’s your phone number? (CAN’T YOU SEE IT ON THE DAMN CALLER DISPLAY?)
4. Ok, right, what do you want to order?
5. Insert 45 second to-and-fro to actually check if they’re doing that special offer or not because the website doesn’t actually specify exactly what each ‘participating’ store is doing.
6. How are you paying?  Cash is best… Add 4 minutes to the transaction if you’re paying by credit card.  In this day and age I find myself reading 16 digits off a piece of plastic to someone who’s re-typing them into another machine.  What ARE we playing at?

About 6 years ago I used to live near Euston Road and was served by the most efficient Pizza restaurant ever: Pizza GoGo Camden.  They’d got one of those caller-ID-to-computer systems, so when you phoned from your mobile or landline (and had already called before), they’d say ‘Is that Ewan?’

I’d confirm and say ‘the usual, please’.  I hang up.  Total transaction time, 15 seconds.  Woosh!  The pizza arrives.

No effing around with personal data that is REALLY annoying.  They really do punish you for their own inefficiencies.

To the point of my post.  I’d have ordered a pizza today if I could have done it through Gomobo on the mobile.  I’d have blown £15.  But I just couldn’t face their stupid ordering bureaucracy.

Instead, I actually got in the car and drove to the local Wimpy restaurant, got a take out and headed back.
Not the most efficient or healthiest option per se ;-)

Anyway I’d like to see Pizza Hut’s delivery service Gomobo’ed.  PLEASE!

(No pressure, Noah & team)

  • Dominos.co.uk have been doing online ordering for years, it’s just a shame their coverage is a limited when compared to Pizza Hut.

Ahhh comms and pizza, two of my favourite things :)

  • Ask and ye shall receive…
I’m proud to announce that Mobo just launched its first pizza restaurant yesterday as the tip of the iceberg for a mammoth downtown Manhattan rollout.

Papa John’s on Maiden Lane is live on Mobo and many more restaurants (pizza and otherwise) are on their way in the coming weeks.

    Ciao.

  • Will the new global sms rollout by papajohns replace existing gomobo solutions there? or can you now order through either?
