So hot on the tail of my ‘8 year old RSI from texting too much’ [grin], here’s news of mobile marketing firm OTAir’s extreme texting competitions — part of their sponsorship package of the Action Sports World Tour coming this month:
Extreme fans will also be able to participate in a variety of OTAir’s “eXtreme teXting†competitions, which will challenge even the most versatile text-messengers. Multiple daily contests will include blindfolded texting, texting races for speed and accuracy, hands-free texting, and a “text-lingo-to-English†shorthand translation contest. Winners and participants in OTAir’s “eXtreme TeXting†competitions and other text messaging contests will be eligible to receive a wide array of great action-sports related prizes, including a 2006 Honda motorcycle, a GT BMX bike, athlete-autographed skateboards, skateboard decks, and skating parties.   Â
There’s a geeky part of me that absolutely loves the company name OTAir. Love it.

Thanks for the coverage of the OTAir eXtreme teXting competitions and the kind words about the name. As you probably figured out, it stands for “Over The Air.” The I had the concept in mind for a long while, I did not pick a name until a year ago and was taken aback to find the 5 letter .com domain, the corresponding short code and a decent toll free number all available.
Anyway, I was not aware of your blog until it popped up in my Technorati search feed for any references to “OTAir.” I will certainly add your blog to my various readers.
Oh, and I’ll let you know how the eXtreme teXting goes this weekend.
