Orange UK to launch its own IM

Picture_10_11
What IS it with Orange?  They have to launch their own music store…. which just isn’t quite as good as anything else.  I tried it out when I got my C550 from them.  I downloaded a copy of Insomnia by Faithless.  It was nothing short of absolutely 100% appalling.  I mean totally shit quality.   I was embarrassed.  REALLY embarrassed.   What idiot let that one out the door?   Total waste of money buying the track.

I had to forget I’d bought it.  When people said ‘Oh wow is that the new C550?  Oh look it’s got music buttons on it.. let me try’ I had to snatch it off’em really quickly.  Lest the discover I’d bought a total dud.

The music service was shit.  Shit.  I don’t mean ‘it was borderline’.  I mean that it didn’t compare, on any level, whatsoever to Napster, iTunes or any other mp3 service.   I just don’t understand how a multinational with offices filled full of experienced professionals could deliver such nonsense.

Anyway here we go - they’ve got their own IM coming.  Suspend your disbelief!

The details are all on this post at MoDaCo:

If you’ve bought an Orange Windows Mobile device recently, you’ll have noticed that Pocket MSN is conspicuous by its absence. Removed from ROM builds by HTC at the request of Orange, the controversial decision was made in order to make way for Orange’s own IM solution, little about which has been known to date.

Ah well.  It’ll be interesting to see it…
