Schools in Britain are revamping plays such as As You Like It and Hamlet and turning classic lines such as “To be, or not to be” into “2b o not 2b”. Headteachers and officials have been worried about falling standards in English among teenagers.

The Department of Education has issued guidelines to schools to be more creative. They are even backing the radical scheme to take a new approach to plays by the Bard.
