Apple’s iPhone is already really late

Link: AppleInsider | Apple cell phone is real and ready for production - analyst.
Was checking out Carlo’s excellent post on the iPhone. Here’s the critical information we need to assimilate:

blah blah blah our sources blah blah soon blah blah blah blah Apple will destroy everybody in mobile blah blah blah blah blah blah nearly ready blah blah blah blah blah pure speculation blah blah blah blah blah blah make some stuff up and put it here blah blah blah blah blah blah we mean it this time blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah this will get us some press blah blah blah blah blah.

Genius! ;-)

Yet more speculation. I have a vague recollection that AppleInsider has got a good rep for getting things pretty accurate. Here’s what they’re saying:

Analysts for American Technology Research on Tuesday encourage investors to get aggressive in purchasing shares of Apple Computer prior to the launch of the company’s much rumored iPod cell phone, which it says is likely to revolutionize the handset industry.

Slim, slim chance of that happening.

I wait, hands folded across chest, bursting with excitement at the prospect, but fully prepared for a damp squid. 90% profit margins on sending 160 character text messages says that Apple aren’t going to get an easy ride from the Know-nothings running our neolitic wireless companies.

If they could do an ‘ipod’ with the mobile industry though - gosh… that would be exciting.

One Response to “Apple’s iPhone is already really late”

  • I got the latest copy of ME yesterday and there is a round-table discussion, including will phones replace the ipod. None of them picked up on the point that user don’t care if their ipod battery dies during usage, but if your phone battery dies its like having an arm cut off. So its far safer for a user to have both devices, so that if the ipod dies on the way to work they can still chat to their mates for the rest of the day. An apple phone won’t necessarily fix this problem.
