Mobile IM, isn’t…

Now, there are reports around that when users come up against a mobile version of MSN or Yahoo (or other desktop IM services), they rapidly run out of enthusiasm for the venture. Why? Well, suddenly IM becomes not so instant. Moreover, multiple conversations - which youthful users are accustomed to - just don’t happen on a mobile (the interface can’t do it very well, or at all).
Not so bad on the Blackberry actually. I think they’ve done a good job with Google Talk. But I totally identify with this viewpoint on Mobile IM being rather challenging after you start trying to talk to multiple people.


I don’t know how I ever got by without Google Talk on my BlackBerry, I’ve yet to see another handset with such a well integrated IM app.
Posted by Dan Lane on October 4th, 2006 at 5:06 pm.I agree. Infact I use the Yahoo! Messenger on my BlackBerry as most of my buddies are connected via Yahoo! The Yahoo! IM is wonderful and works perfectly on my BlackBerry. I think that it’s about time that Yahoo!, MSN & AOL think about developing a mobile version of their IM’s that are compatible with most of the phones.
