Truphone’s N80 client now available

Truphone today announced a beta version of its free VoIP download for Nokia’s best-selling, Wi-Fi-enabled N80 mobile handset.  Available from the Truphone website later this month, the download instantly brings free and low-cost mobile calls within easy reach of all N80 handset owners.

The whisperings were true! Alas I’ve no N80 to try this out with but I shall try and hunt one down and get the client on it.

They’ve got the provisioning sorted. All you have to do is text TRU to 60030 (in the UK) and the client is installed over the air. Smart. That’s exactly the simplicity required. Of course since it’s Symbian, it integrates perfectly with your address book.

    I grabbed my N80, texted TRU to 60030, got a service message, opened up the URL, all excited..

    .. and then it said it wasn’t available for my phone. Bah!

    Guess I should have read the PR properly, especially the bit that said ‘later this month’ :)
