Greg Sterling contemplates that question. My own view? Yes, voice-enabled mobile search will negate directory assistance — if it’s good enough. Right now the human in the call centre is there, part of a crucial interface chain — to understand and process our instructions. When the technology’s good enough, we’ll obviously all speak to a computer — with a ‘press 1 to speak to a human’ option.
