I have seen the future and it is Good Mobile Messaging

For the past weeks, I have been using Good Mobile Messaging for my work and SMS Text News email. I’ve been using it in conjunction with the Nokia E61. It is nothing short of a revelation.

I’m building up to doing a full expose on the whole process.

  • Hi Ewan,

I use a BlackBerry 8700g and like it’s simple yet effective approach to push e-mail. Off late I have been considering switching to a E61 but have a few not so good reviews on the Good Technology’s push e-mail service, especially for Lotus Notes.

I’d appreciate if you can share your experience with E61 and issues/problems that you faced with the switch.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Siddharth - can you provide some information on which issues you are encountering or which issues you are hearing about with Good on the E61?

  • Hey Dan,

Thanks for the prompt response. Says a LOT about how seriously Good takes public relations and how well it listens to customer issues.

I use my 8700g on enterprise and access company directory and intranet on the phone. A colleague of mine who uses a E61 with Good Tech was unable to sync the company directory (which primarily is Lotus Notes based) with the phone. The IT Admin at our company recommended that he switches to a BlackBerry handset due to the issue. I am planning on getting a E61 as it has better integration of Office applications like Word, Excel, etc. but this has held me back.

Is there a way we can sync company directory on a E61 and use Good Tech push e-mail for Lotus Notes?

    Awaiting your response.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks for your feedback. Yes, we do take customer feedback seriously and our product teams spend a lot of energy in providing a great experience for the end users. Good Messaging synchronizes the users personal address book and lets them do a Domino Directory lookup for searching the company directory and then add it to their address book. We have seen our end users prefer this approach instead of syncing the entire company directory which in some large organizaton can run in to thousdands of entries and can become a mess to manage on the handheld devices.
We also have a nice feature called “Company History” which stores the latest 250 email addresses. I would strongly suggest you to try E61 and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any followup questions.

  • Your welcome Dan. I also spoke to our IT department at work today and he advised me that he has been working on the issue. We’ve had quite a few users in the company trying out Good Mobile Messaging service and it works amazingly well with webmail and a friend at another company uses it for Lotus Notes at work without any big hassle.

As you pointed out in big companies it could be an issue and we have about 1500+ users with corporate email accounts making it tough to sync them all on the phone. But thanks for removing my fears on the E61. I’ll surely try it.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Bala,

I am not sure if this is the right forum to address this issue but I am getting my E61 tommorow. Can ya give me a contact/procedure to get Good on it for an Indian user?

    Cheers!
