Ode to Vodafone. Ode to Vodafone. Ode to Vodafone.
When I used Vodafone text messages arrived instantly or not at all. If someone sent me ONE text message, I received ONE text message.
At the moment, every time I receive a text with T-Mobile, I invariably get ONE message. Then 3 minutes later, I get a duplicate. And another. And another. Sometimes up to 5 or 6 texts, all the same. Total arse.
This means that if I’m conducting a conversation it can get mightily confusing. At the moment I’m training myself to remember where I am in my text conversations so that when I get that ‘ooooh a message’ feeling upon hearing the beep, I know not to bother looking, as it’s just a copy.
Do any network bods know what’s happening to me? Could it be the E61 handset? Or is it totally the held-together-with-string T-Mobile network?
Never ever had this problem on Vodafone. Granted, I was paying 12.5 pence a text.
Look like a case of SMS C congestion that at times become damn annoying. Due to added traffic etc the SMS C at time ‘forgets’ that a message has already been sent.
I doubt that this has anything to do with the handset. Get T-mobile support and they can check the text logs and make a correction if it aint too wide spread already

I’ve seen this sometimes and to be fair it can happen on all networks (but I guess some more than others). I remember asking Vodafone when it happened to me a few years ago and they pretty much said there was a failure in the mast. The message had come through several hundred times!! I turned off my phone, went home (to a different cell) and the problem disappeared.
But these days I am starting to hear more good things about vodafone’s reach, speed and low failure rates (for text, calls and 3g coverage), whilst I hear more and more about t mobile having a lot of black holes around the country and regular blips of zero-coverage in what seem like quite dense areas that should have excellent coverage. Maybe it’s all hear-say but it does seem to consistantly favour vodafone over t mobile.
