Three UK’s £4.99/month 400min/250txt price plan
I little while ago I was in a cab flying through an area of London - can’t quite remember where — when I saw a £4.99 per month price plan in a shop window.
It took me a while, but I found it. It’s a promotion offered by Superdrug.
Here’s the deal in more detail:
- 400 minutes
- 250 texts
- £5/month free downloads (e.g. music tracks)
However, as with most Three price plans, the minutes and texts are actually doubled for 6 months, so it’s actually 800 minutes and 500 texts. For £4.99 a month? Gosh.
Here’s a full-frontal of the ad, (including the reflection of the McDonalds opposite!)
It also includes a free Sony Ericsson K610 or
Here’s the bottom of the ad —
It does say ’subject to terms and conditions’, plus I’m not quite sure if it’s a 12 month contract or perhaps 18 months. It says “for 12 months” on the ad, but there’s an asterisk next to that so there might be some horrific balloon payment
I don’t think so though.
However, provided there’s not too many weird terms & conditions — I think that’s highly unlikely as I don’t reckon Superdrug would want the hassle — a £4.99/month price plan looks like a wicked deal.
What’s more, I’m pretty sure it’s exclusive to Superdrug.

so how many pre-agreed members of my family am I allowed to call/text with the plan and do I have to get them all to switch their existing 18 month contracts to 3? or is it for colleagues where I can only use the texts to text a colleague who is standing on his head whilst England are playing (and winning) a test match on any day of the week except Thursday?
3 really are getting the hang of this “cut the crap, here’s a good product, it’s cheap, take it or leave it”. Unlike the voda/tmob deals which are excrutiatingly painful in the way they try and desperately tie you and all your contacts into something weird and totally confusing.
basically if a “special deal” has hidden clauses then even the intelligence-challenged will figure it out one day and when they do they will hate you forever. But lay it out on the line as “£5 all you can eat with no ‘fair usage’ crap” and you will win the game.
top marks heading to 3 for their new view of the world…
…just pleeeeeeeeeease lets not see a “fair usage” policy spring out of the woodwork at the last possible minute to spoil the party…

It is £4.99 per month for the first 12 months. You get double minutes and double texts (800/500 respectively) for the first 6 months.
The remaining 6 months is £35 per month. You will get 400 minutes & 250 texts + the £5 content download.
It is still a great deal. If purchasing the same phone & contract from Three.co.uk you would be paying £17.50 for the first 12 months and £35 for the remaining 6 months. By signing up at Superdrug you will save £150.12.
