Good deal at Carphone Warehouse
Was walking past the Carphone Warehouse at Bluewater (I went there again, this time to blow flippin’ great wads of cash on Christmas presents) and saw this sign.
My need-a-new-mobile-phone quotient is temporarily frozen after the purchase of the N93. That being said, I think the Sony Ericsson K750 at £79 and the Samsung D600 at £99 represent pretty good deals.

My Son (teen) was recently in the market for a new phone, and after some deliberation chose the SLVR L7i, on O2 PAYG (was already on that network, and happy with it). Main uses were camera (1.3MP), styling, and music.
The phone was awful. imode was very proprietry, with even a different JVM being provided, and motorola tech support (usually excellent) not able to answer questions about it. The MP3 player was the ultimate reason for return, failing to play virtually every single track we tried, even though they all played on a selection of other phones, including another motorola ~3 years old.
So he choose again, and went for the Sony Ericsson K750i. Not as good looking, in fact a tad tacky, but it just works. The PC sync software works, the phone interface is obvious, every MP3 player works, its fairly snappy, the camera is good, screen clear etc. We also got a 1Gb memory card from mobymemory.co.uk (also try mymemory.co.uk)
Ok, so a proper headphone jack would’ve been nice, the sw could be richer, but basically very happy.
We got that for £80 from O2 online - so I’d say go for it, it’s an excellent all rounder.
