I’ve just bought Three’s X-Series

I went for the £10 per month ‘gold’ option because I’m a sucker for that sort of thing and because, frankly, you expect it of me, right?

I need to go and get myself a slingbox too, while I’m at it.

Meantime, the lady from Three was telling me that I’m given 6,000 MMS messages a month.

SIX THOUSAND?

Wow.

Plus, I’m given the equivalent of 5,000 Skype minutes — or 2.5 hours a day worth of Skype.

Impressive.

So. I’ve got the service activated. Need to wait an hour or so for it to creep through the network.

THEN……. I tell you……. see if ShoZu doesn’t work? ;-)

  • Just spent 45 minutes on hold trying to find out what deal I could get before I finally transfer my number to T-Mobile. If I can get the same deal as they offered me last week then I will probably stay.

I think this deal is going to be hugely popular.

Well done Three - just wish they had more people on customer service tonight!

  • This service looks truly flabbergasting. Just. wow. SO is that £10 on top of the standard 3 contract rate? What are you actually paying? How many actual voice minutes do you get?

I find myself wishing that mobile operators behaved like Credit Card companies; I would dearly love to move my Orange contract to 3 on the basis of the X series.

  • The deal is £10 on top of your standard contract for the Gold Series - plus £99 for the Slingbox (less than I’ve seen it for on the web anyway). So, for a £40 monthly total I get 750 voice minutes, 150 texts, 1 Gbyte of data PLUS 80 hours of streaming data from my own PC (TV and media files). I’ve got both Orb and Slingbox working, and this is a huge step forward for using the mobile internet - useful services that work as well (if not better) than advertised! The deal is as good as it sounds - the 80 hours per month usage of Orb / Slingbox doesn’t come out of your 1 Gb monthly data allowance, so mobile web exploration AND useful web services are at last truly affordable. Now, if only I could get MobileMail to work with a paid Hotmail account….
