Apple need their heads examined re iPhone interface infringement

BLOGGERS BEWARE: According to TechCrunch, Apple is sending letters to bloggers to remove posts that report on the skin for Windows Mobile phones that looks exactly like the new iPhone user interface.

Emily linked to this TechCrunch article with all the gossip.

I suppose, yes, Windows Mobile themes featuring the iPhone interface does infringe the Apple copyright.

But surely the fact that when you switch on your Windows Mobile device and click ‘addressbook’ and have to wait a few eons for anything to happen, surely that’s punishment enough? ;-) Emailing and demanding the site remove the content? Nah. Keep it up.

There can be nothing sadder than a Windows Mobile user with an iPhone interface sat next to someone using an iPhone. Heh. Ooooh dear. No amount of dressing up Windows Mobile 5.0 will fix it.

I remain slightly positive about the next version. Speed it up. SPEED it up. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS BEAUTIFUL AND EFFICIENT, SPEED IT UP?

Time for lunch.

  • I think you have hit the nail on the head. Apple does not want to be associated with the WM experience - I’m sure they are afraid that if people first experience the Apple interface via a clunky* WM5 system, they will forever associate Apple with the user-inexperience that is WM5.

*I use WM5 daily. Its great, but it should be far, far better considering the time that Microsoft has had developing this beast.
