PUPILS are to be sent text messages of support in a bid to help them quit smoking.
Health chiefs have launched the new mobile phone text service in Fenland to help wean teenagers, some as young as 14, off cigarettes.
“The new text service will also be used by 2BFree to send messages of support and encouragement to those already in the process of stopping, and also as a way to remind young people of their next appointment.”
Young people can contact 2Bfree by texting 07717 988782. For more information about the service, call 01353 654227.
Well, this could be rather useful. I wonder if it will help reduce smoking by the target audience? A reminder might be quite useful!

This certainly looks like a great (and noble of course) idea to me. After all, if texting can help you stay away from smoking, then it’s great use of a basic service we use in our daily lives.
