I have been paying for parking text by text at Camrbidge station. Much easier than fumbling for £6 in change, marching to the ticket machine, marching back to the car etc.. Oooh it must save me at least 3 minutes at time, but most importantly I don’t forget to expense it (they will even send me a VAT receipt). The system by Versus is great. Until that is you make a mistake.
Last week I was in a bit of a rush and mistexted the initial instruction (ARSE as you would say). So I quickly texted the correct instruction car park 7051 1. I quickly received two texts. The first I did not open assuming it said “you are an arse, we don’t understand try again!” I went straight to the second message
“Confirmed. KJXXXXXX at 7051 until 9.08 am 2008.12/22 for GBP3613.80 incl service charge. Send STOP to cancel. More info at verrus.com ”

Boy did I text STOP fast!

Dazed and confused I realised that I might not have paid at all and that the parking czar would slap a £50 fine on my car. I called Verrus and received excellent service. They chuckled at the £3613.80 and tidied up my days arrangements!

Hope the power is back on!
