Reliance India offers Yahoo IM to it’s 24 million users

As of July 2006, Indian telcoms company Reliance Communications claimed a user base of 23.7 million. It’s the second largest telecoms company in the country. So any deals with Indian cellphone carrier Reliance Communications are important, and Yahoo! closed a deal to make available its instant messenger to Indian cell phone users

Interesting, interesting. I look forward to hearing about the take-up of this.

I’ve been using Agile Mobile on my E61 heavily over the past weeks and, I tell you, it BEATS THE HELL out of text messaging. Text messaging doesn’t get a look in. I’ve been able to carry on conversations with colleagues across the day with it.

Fantastic, especially when I’m out and about in weird and wonderful locations.

So, I wonder what sort of impact that might have in India.

  • In India, anything connected with the name Reliance communications, simply sucks. I am one of the victims of their devious schemes and many like me have been left high and dry. I have even offered to gift away my brand new Reliance handsets free of cost. Full details of how I got duped is available in the following link.
