T-Mobile UK’s StreetCheck
I saw T-Mobile UK’s StreetCheck advertised somewhere — on the TV I believe — and thought I’d check it out.
It’s a rather nifty signal checker for any postcode of place name in the UK. I checked out the postcode for my old Hall of Residence back from University. Needless to say, since it’s in Central London, the StreetCheck system reports excellent coverage — all five bars.
Normally operators only give you general area maps. The more in-depth results from T-Mobile are useful if you’re off to a particular place to work or if you’re planning an event in some location and want to know, exactly, if there’s good service.
Nice.

I don’t understand the point. Can you explain??
The street checker can’t tell if the building you are in is going to interfere with the signal (it says the gym I go to rates 5 bars but actually it’s a steel-frame building so you get no reception inside).
And even if it was perfectly accurate, are you honestly going to change your plans to accomadate your phone service? “Sorry guys, can’t come to that pub, my mobile service only gets 2 bars in there”.
Nice, more like Naff.
