When Three customers travel to another country in which Three also operates, customers will be able to make and receive calls using the visited Three network and be charged as if they were still using their home network. The same principle will apply to other services such as texting and video calling.
The service is being rolled out in Ireland, Australia, Austria, Denmark, Hong Kong, Italy, Sweden and Britain. The mobile operator said the service is consistent with the European Commission’s campaign to reduce the cost of mobile calls when roaming in Europe.
Well that bodes well. I’m not quite clear on whether Three UK customers can avail themselves of the same offer, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
Well actually, it’s a marathon in the right direction. Instead of being charged a few quid a minute for a call, provided you’re using the Three network abroad, you’ll pay just your standard network rates? Genius. Very good indeed.
Now we need to crack the 40 odd pence a minute to-another-mobile-network thing….
