Tried Spinvox recently? It absolutely ROCKS
I was just talking to the chaps at Spinvox and was found slightly embarrassed that I had actually never tried out their service. If you haven’t checked it out, Spinvox answers your missed calls just like a normal voicemail service, but their system transcribes the audio and sends you the message by text. It’s absolute genius.
Ages ago, August some time, I think, I was sat with the iTagg chaps having a wickedly good pizza on the South Bank — Steve was going on about just how good and useful the service was. I resolved to go home and immediately sign up — but I think there was a problem with my credit card or something — my end, not to do with Spinvox — and then, before you know it, I completely forgot to try another card.
So talking with them this afternoon, the chap said he’d setup an account for me.
‘Bring it on,’ I thought. Now, Steve has, as I’ve said, been going on about just how good Spinvox is, so I was moderately exctied to try it out. You know, a semi excited nonchalance?
‘Ok, sure,’ I said.
Sat working away, I then got a text message from Spinvox telling me my system was activated. All I needed to do was to set the divert. Piece of piss. I mean, it COULDN’T be simpler. I just clicked the divert call string straight from the text message, configured with my individual divert number.
My handset set ‘divert set’.
Then I got two calls almost simultaneously!
I left both to go through to Spinvox.
Wow. A few moments later you get the transcribed text message — super accuracy — as a text message.
GET IN.
What’s more, the text message is addressed FROM the person who just called you. So, for example, I phoned the system from my Three handset. Spinvox used that handset’s phone number as the originator on the text message, so I’m immediately able to text the person back. Or call them.
Pure genius.
You *ALSO* get the details by email. This is brilliant for organisation later on. Who called, what was their number, what was their message and so on.
It totally rocks.
They do a week’s free trial in the UK — take 3 minutes to go and try it out and let me know what you think? Once you setup your account, mail me (ewan@smstextnews.com) with your mobile number and I’ll call and leave you a message, right?
I’ve only had two calls and I’m converted.

There is this service Simulscribe thats been in the US since 2003 it sounds similar to spinvox, I think you might be interested. I’ve been using this service Simulscribe for a few months now on my cell and its amazing. Their voice recognition service is so superior to anything I have ever tried! Not only is it fast but its perfect. Even names are spelled correctly. I was so bad at checking my voicemail that it would just fill up…and then having to go into my voicemail to clear it was such a pain. With Simulscribe, I can use their bonus online tool so I can just delete them all or save them all. Anyways, they have a free trial if you sign up on their website if you are interested http://www.simulscribe.com

The great thing for me is that being a international traveler, they convert your voicemail to text from different languages. Just checked out the speak a blog too….very cool.
