Upgrading your N80 to N80i internet edition…

I had a note in from a reader recently asking me what the hell is going on with the Nokia N80 –> N90i upgrade process.

I’m told that Nokia have posted the official details — only to remove them, only to publish them up again and so on.

Can anyone explain to me, using simple words and diagrams, what is going on?

Or is the best, most efficient policy just to sit in the corner and fume? Heh.

If you’ve got a clue, let me (and the reader) know?

  • I’ve got a guess.

The “ie” version is buggy. I have one. It’s not as bad as some in the past but it does have some sort of memory conflict with Shozu (which worked fine on the original N80). I have not tried other applications but was very disappointed to learn of this (Shozu has not yet come up with a fix but knows of the issue) and would suspect they did something that creates this conflict that would also show itself with other third party applications.

That may be why they posted and then removed this from their site. Only a guess though.
