A major frustration for cellphone users will go the way of the rotary dial Wednesday when Canada enables all phone customers to change carriers but keep their existing numbers.
It won’t matter if the switch is between landlines and mobiles, mobiles and landlines, or mobiles and mobiles, as long as it’s within the same calling area.
The change, mandated by the federal regulator 18 months ago, frees consumers and businesses from the shackles of their current wireless providers.
