Better pricing for T-Mobile UK’s Hotspots

I had a choice between two wireless providers this afternoon at Glasgow Central Station. I’m here working for a few hours and I wanted fast access to the internet. Unfortunately it seems that The Cloud isn’t operational in this station. Least I can’t see a wifi signal from them.

I thus had to choose between BT Openzone and T-Moblie’s hotspot.

I’ve got an account at BT Openzone, just, well, because I was stuck in Manchester a while ago and it came in useful. It was the only option I could find. So I’m not best pleased with BT. Not with their ultra stupid per-minute pricing.

I wasn’t that enamoured at the thought of trying out T-Mobile. Remember their 10 minutes for 75p option? Useless. Absolutely useless.

The laptop ‘roamed’ to T-Mobile first so I checked it out. Lo and behold, they’ve changed their prices. You can subscribe for £10 a month to get ‘unlimited’ hotspot access — that’s if you’re a T-Mobile customer. Otherwise, it’s £20 a month. Better, much better.

Alas I couldn’t find anywhere to actually subscribe to that. So I signed up with a credit card, £10 for 24 hours. Ok. Fine. Fine. Nay bad.

It’s really quite annoying that this hasn’t all been sorted out. If I’ve got ‘The Cloud’ account, I can’t use BT Openworld, T-Mobile or any of that. What an arse.

Anyway, it’s fast here in Glasgow…
