Britons can’t take the pace: 69% have phone number amnesia

I can’t quite remember the phone number of my girlfriend. I think it’s 07799 something. Pretty bad, eh? She did write it down for me. Obviously it’s in my phone books. But I had to ask her to call me when I was driving in the car last night. I don’t store my numbers on my sim card you see. But when she called, I recognised it as her.

And I sort of remember other people’s numbers. Ed’s got a 133 in his. Somewhere. Or is is a 106? Who knows. Yes, I have number amnesia.

I remember my own phone number. And I remember my OLDer mobile number that is no longer in use (despite the fact people keep trying to call it and think I’m ignoring them).

Got this survey in from the mobile backup heros at zyb.com:

New research from mobile phone-back up service provider ZYB (zyb.com), reveals that Britons are suffering from phone number amnesia with almost three quarters of the population (69 per cent) unable to remember even five numbers stored on their mobile phone.

That’s me, I’m one of those.

Mobile phones are involved in 40 per cent of robberies within the UK with a handset being stolen every 12 seconds (the equivalent of more than 2.5 million per year), however six in ten (59 per cent) do not have their mobile phone numbers backed-up in any way, whether that means writing them down, saving them to a computer or storing them online.

Yeah, you have to be a total 100% chump to not have your mobile numbers backed up. Particularly if you’re not a normob. In fact, if you’re reading this, you’re defined as geeky, so you have no excuse: Is your mobile data backed up? No? Get it backed up in about 5 minutes with zyb. It’s a piece of simplicity and it’ll pretty much work for any decent handset.

  • Agreed, it’s a must do. There are other companies out there apart from Zyb though. A good one that I found is Mobyko. They also sync your phone with their website, but in a much more funky, user friendly way. You can also save texts and photos with them. Check it out http://www.mobyko.com
