Burn your N80 and get a N95 today

The N95′s multimedia capabilities are quite staggering. The screen is just huge for a candy bar phone, and a day after the Nokia YouTube announcement, I had mobile YouTube thanks to the wickedly cool Internet Videos section of the gallery.

The phone’s weight is something that you will be surprised at too. You know those empty demo phones they have in the shops ? It feels like one of those in terms of weight, it feels odd at first that a phone that large (compared to the N80) weighs so much less. All good!

Ewan, I’d love to hear other opinions on the N95 GPS. Mine does_not_lock if you are moving. Even walking pace is too fast for it to do the maths needed to lock. You need to be still for a good few minutes to lock. This is in the open with 5 good satellites displayed as visible – full bars and all.

If you are in a car, using it for nav, and happen to go under a decent bridge/tunnel, then you need to pull over and stop to reacquire lock. This is not just an inconvenience, it’s downright unacceptable. Forget about being spontaneous with Geotagging of images or location-aware search etc.

My £30 bluetooth SiRF III GPS from eBay runs rings around the N95 in terms of speed to lock from cold (
