T-Mobile UK’s self-service console, very smart
I do like this. I’ve always admired it since they launched it a while ago.
You can scroll down and add stuff like 500 text messages (17 quid a month), holiday minutes, video minutes and what not.
I like to be able to serve myself — it’s rather satisfying.
I’ve just added the hotspot service for £8.50 — so instead of using The Cloud, I can now use T-Mobile. Although … I think I might reactivate my Cloud subscription.
Anyway, self service, totally smart. Good work, T-Mobile.

I do like the self service console myself - very easy to add one month of international calls when I went to Barcelona for Microsoft TechEd last year. Save me a fortune on receiving calls.
However, it can be a bit temperamental, it stopped showing my remaining data and call allowance the other month. I had to e-mail customer support to ‘enable’ my account to see it. How it had lost the ability wasn’t explained.
Be warned that the self service option saves you something like £3 per month but does mean that a call to 150, the customer service number, costs a fortune (50p a minute!). That’s why I was upset when the self service web site wasn’t displaying the remaining allowances.
Top tip though, don’t ring 150 from your phone, use the standard customer number from a land line, this is way cheaper, but you will end up going through an operator.
