Link: Bulgaria: Bulgarian Ex-Broker Monk to Rebuild Monastery with SMS Cash
A Bulgarian monk, who used to be a financial stock broker on Wall Street, has come up with a new way to save an ancient monastery in his home country.
Father Nikanor from the village of Giginzi is collecting money through text messages to save the monastery of Saints Kozma and Damyan, one of the oldest monasteries in the Pernik region near Sofia, Standart daily Newspaper reported.
Good thinking, that man! If it was an international shortcode, I’d donate!

Sounds like a good cause. I just posted on meeting long ago with the late Fr. Basil Pennington at St. Joseph’s Abbey, the oldest Trappist monastery in North America I believe.

This sounds like a great cause. Although I have one question for the respective donors… are the donations tax-deductible?

Excellent point! I don’t think they are Marlan…
