Remind4u goes mobile

Link: An awful lot of fuss 4 a B’day card

It’s an awful lot of fuss to go to just to send a birthday card but online service, Remind4u, has just gone mobile. So for £3 any Brit can receive a personalised birthday greeting on their mobile phone.

Sounds good, but the article points out there’s a couple of snags. You create the card from the web - not your mobile - even though it’s delivered to the recipients mobile. You don’t seem to be able to send the card by email instead, and there’s also apparently a bug with the authorisation required that charges you the £3 to your handset via premium SMS.

That aside, it could serve the busy Brit (or typical bloke with a memory like a sieve) quite well.

  • Gosh how clever. But I can do it even better with my new system…

I’ve called it “SendaTextToaFriendFromYourVeryOwnMobile” and it works like this… I pick up my mobile and I send a text to my friend saying something like “happy birthday you old sod”. It’s really a very flexible system because each user can type different things, we don’t restrict what you can type.

To use my new system just pick up your mobile and send a text to a friend right now. Once you’ve sent it then please write out a cheque for each one payable to “Steve Procter Innovations Inc.” for £1.50 and send it to me at the usual Bahamas postal address.

Note that the network will also charge you a few pence to send the text…a bit cheeky I know, them cashing in on my idea but hey, as long as I get my £1.50 in order to pay back the £4M I loaned to set the idea up then I’m happy…

  • Did I mention it’s another Carol Vorderman venture? Put two and two together and you could be forgiven for thinking they got the startup cash from one of those secured high interest loan companies she’s always on telly fronting!
