HTC launches finger controlled touchscreen phone

Link: BBC NEWS | Technology | Phone responds to the human touch

News in from Taiwanese handset maker HTC. They’ve just launched a new Windows mobile-based phone called the ‘Touch’, which has ‘TouchFLO’ technology. In English? It’s not just a normal touch screen handset, as it can handle finger control.

According to the BBC, “menus can be around and opened by moving a finger in a given direction.”

It sounds suspiciously similar to what we know of the iPhone interface – although HTC aren’t making it totally finger control, providing a stylus with the handset for more “complex actions”.

HTC have a very pretty website for the Touch here if you fancy a gander. Lots of photos, 3D views and stuff to make you drool. Perhaps the iPhone has got a competitor?

  1. I’m loving the touch! got one yesterday after having a htc tytn and aside from missing the keyboard the touch is better in every sense – including that its MUCH thinner! I havent quite got used to the touchFlo after normally using the stylus but it is cool sliding your finger across – and you dont need to put any pressure just slide it across to open applications and browse the web. I love the TOUCH!!!

  2. Yeah! its great…..its superb….I have been using HTC windows mobile phone. Initially I found it complex but now I am in love with it. Other Players like Blackberry, Nokia N90 tried to catch my eyes but HTC's simple Windows Operating System intrigued me. The best part is its quick Sync with PC as it is windows mobile.
One more unrivalled part of HTC is Task Manager. Many an application can be run at a time.
