A chap called Chris emailed me this afternoon with a new icon that he’s proposing as an industry standard ‘mobile’ icon. I like the concept of it.

Just as there’s an industry standard RSS feed icon, Chris reckons there should be one for mobile web.

He’ll have a site up soon with more perspective and when he does, I’ll publish it here.

  • ah I see, your blog disallows image embeds. Logo here: http://www.al4ie.com/images/mblogofav.jpg

  • The Mobile/WAP icon is derived from the RSS Icon and the W3C Mobile Web Initiative website http://www.w3.org/Mobile/

The W3C graphic reminds of the WAP icon, which can still be found at osnews.com

    Stay tuned!

  • I won’t be able to properly launch the icon any time soon because of work and I’ll have no internet for the next 3 weeks.

I have a lot to say about .mobi and the industry that promoted it. Towards the end of July I’ll have a personal site to share my views along with a site dedicated to the icon.

In the meantime, feel free to use the icon or create your own.

The web needs a standard mobile icon and I doubt the “mobile leaders” will support such a moral cause.

    Sorry about the delay,

    Chris
