China to implement universal mobile phone batteries

Soon after the universal cell-phone charger plan, China is now setting a more ambitious goal to make the universal standard for cell-phone battery by the end of 2007, according to sina.tech

Ah well this is an interesting point. I really like the concept of standardisation and I am a huge fan of standardised mobile phone chargers. As long as this doesn’t impact innovation I’m well up for standardised batteries. Geez that will make life a lot simpler — as well as reducing the toll on the environment.

I’m not sure I’d be that happy if I was a mobile phone accessories supplier though…
