European mobile companies developing virtual ‘red light districts’

Although they are not trumpeting such deals, Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, 3UK and other mainstream telecommunications providers in Europe are developing red-light districts on their Web portals. In recent weeks, some have made deals with Yahoo and Google to prominently display search tools that ease the hunt for adult entertainment for mobile devices. More have sites in testing phases.

But it is a delicate topic for most of these companies that do not actively promote or market their sites

You only have to login to any of the operator walled-gardens after 11pm to see evidence of such. I wonder just how successful these areas are? One UK operator I spoke to a while ago reckoned that 95% of their walled-garden revenues were as a result of adult content.
