Koreans in the Philippines can now text home in Korean

Bit of a geeky one, but nevertheless an issue I wanted to document — if you’re a Korean sat in the Philippines, you can now, thanks to Smart Communications innovative new system, text a message using Korean characters — that are reliably transcoded on the international switch through to Korea.

Sun.Star Cebu - Telco develops Korean SMS

KOREANS in the Philippines can now text in Korean to loved ones in their home country and vice versa.

This, as Smart Communications Inc. develops a service that ensures that all text messages passing through its network, composed in Korean characters, are accurately sent and received by Koreans in the Philippines and in Korea.
