Mumbai Police launch emergency text number for disabled

Link: SMS service for disabled-Mumbai-Cities-The Times of India

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the city police have started an SMS service
to facilitate the physically-challenged to get in touch with lawkeepers while in
distress.

This is very neat. One officer in the Mumbai Police control room has been assigned to monitor incoming text messages — ostensibly from disabled citizens in distress (although, I imagine that anyone could use the service).
