Nokia N95 ‘in the flesh’ in 3, Hartlepool
I popped into the 3UK store in Hartlepool again today. It’s becoming something of a ritual when I’m in the North East, to go to Marks & Spencer to get some healthy food — then take a trip around each of the mobile shops.
Here, then, is the N95 ‘in the flesh’, ready to be purchased. I couldn’t ask the chaps in the store about it, because they were uber-busy. All of them. Good news. They were two-deep in customers waiting to be served. I didn’t want to interrupt them with probing questions.
In contrast, Carphone Warehouse was empty.
The woman in Vodafone looked up from her crossword as I walked by.
The o2 shop was devoid of life. Not even a staffer walking about. Nice balloons arranged around the entrance though.
The 3UK range of handsets is definitely the most inspiring I reckon.

Not sure I completely agree, oh glorious leader
Three’s handset range is coming up to scratch slowly, but is the least complete / diverse of all the non-MVNO networks IMO. I think it’s the sharp pricing and the fact they’re about the only network doing any consumer-facing innovation that’s the big draw.
