Nominate someone in the mobile industry to receive flowers from SMS Text News

flowersI think we should spread a little SMS Text News cheer every Monday.

I’d like to send flowers to someone, nominated by the SMS Text News audience, to congratulate them.

Whether it’s a client win, a nomination for an award, a super new innovative product, or perhaps someone deserves a bit of recognition for being a good guy or girl. Or perhaps a developer who’s released a piece of genius recently? Maybe the chief designer of the Nokia 95? Or maybe one of the team over at 3UK for actually introducing the N95?

I think women are sorted with a bunch of flowers and I don’t think a guy will mind receiving flowers. That said, no one has ever sent me flowers and I’m reasonably content at that, however, I don’t think I’d be that annoyed if someone did. Although as a guy, I think I’d rather be sent some chocolates or a bucketload of beer. I’ll give that a bit of thought.

So next Monday, I want to send some flowers (or a load of beer) to somebody.

I don’t mind where. America. UK. Brazil. Wherever. The recipient doesn’t have to work at a mobile operator — they should just be connect with the mobile industry somehow. So think developers, PR, investors, analysts, designers, executives, entrepreneurs and so on.

If time permits, would you post some nominations of people you think qualify below? Please also say why you reckon they should get some flowers. Or if you wish, email me directly at ewan@smstextnews.com — best to title your email ‘flowers’ or something like that so it gets the requisite attention.

Next Monday I’ll arrange to have the flowers (or beer) delivered with an accompanying note from us all here at SMS Text News. Maybe we might even get a response from the recipient and publish it here.

The purpose of this is to spread a bit of cheer so please do keep your suggestions positive.

If we’re able to get sufficient suggestions, regularly, we’ll do this every Monday.

  1. I would have to nominate Daniel Goldman, the PR guy for Opera. He has been absolutely critical to the Opera Mini product launch.

Why do I feel Opera Mini is important? No matter how high the level of suck is on the sad piece of shit your mobile phone calls a browser, Opera Mini brings the complete internet experience into the palm of your hand.

I’ve been an “internet in your pocket” evangelist since I got my first data plan several years ago and to find someone who actually cares about it as much as I do make me nominate Daniel Goldman.

Every blog that I found linking to my Opera Mini review, Dan has been there to post a comment. Every Opera Mini rumor or news bit I’ve seen online, again Dan has been there.

I don’t know if he uses Technorati or Google Blog Search or Ice Rocket or any of the other Web tools out there, he is doing a fantastic job at PR spreading a message that I think needs to be heard.
