SMS Salama — send and receive encrypted SMS
Arnold emailed me to tell me about SMS Salama. It’s a java application that enables you to send and receive simple text messages.
Normally, SMS are transmitted as plain text, so any one with access to your operator’s network may be able to obtain the contents of your message. Some operators may even allow their customer service personel to look into your messages.
With SMS Salama you are sure your message will only be seen by your intended recepient as long as the password used to encrypt it is a well kept secret between you two (and needless to say, it is strong
enought.Your SMS will be encrypted as it leaves your phone, ensuring that it can only be open by the password used to encrypt it when it reached its destination.
