Welcome to the new SMS Text News!

old smstextnews style

Morning! Welcome! Here, then, is a picture of the old site for posterity…. for ’tis no more!

That old design has been totally swapped, courtesy of the geniuses at Forty Media. (A big thank you to James Archer and his team!)

(If you’re reading on an RSS feed, click here to visit the new site.)

There are a few small changes we have yet to implement — for example we’ve got to update the Who’s Who and the Anonymous Tip Form with the new style, so do pardon our dust.

We’re extremely pleased with the new style. For a while now, because of the volume of items we publish, we’ve been having trouble distinguishing between news — that is, just plain-old-mobile-news that we really want to publish — and special features (e.g. A visit to Truphone, the Texpert launch, or the forthcoming Spinvox feature).

So on the left side of the page, you’re now seeing a section for features. Whilst news appears, as normal, on the right.

Scroll down and you’ve news from a few select categories (we might change the categories shown actually). Then we list the latest reader comments.

If you’ve got some feedback, we’d love to hear it — positive or negative — right here, or by email (ewan@smstextnews.com).

I hope you enjoy.

  • Looks great, mate! SMS Text News is such a joy to read, it’s a bonus to see it’s gotten even prettier as well.

  • Nice to see it switch over from the testing area to the live front of the site. Looking good.

Miss being able to read more than just the title of the posts though. And it is not easy to see if / how many comments on a post. But otherwise looking great!

  • First thought: “EUGH!”

Slowly but surely - after an hour of usage - “Like it. Much more user friendly.”

  • It was a shock at first….but getting used to it was quick and I think the new design is great. Very easy to use and easy on the eye.

The guys at Forty Media have done a really good (and very unmanageable) job!
