Mobibucks introduces cashless mobile transactions

Picture 9
I can’t quite recall how Mobibucks came across my radar. I found it and then kept it in my browser window — anyway, it looks like a smart proposition. At first glance I wasn’t entirely sure whether the mobile phone is actually required — theoretically speaking, it isn’t.

Here’s what you do.

1. You register online at Mobibucks.com.

2. You add some cash to your account

3. You go to a participating coffee shop and order a $3 Latte.

4. You pay by using a Mobibucks keypad — you type in your mobile number, then you type in your 4-digit pin.

5. You get a text confirmation of the transaction immediately.

6. You can manage your account online, track your balance and so on.

Theoretically speaking, you don’t even have to have your mobile with you, I think. It’s a smart way of being able to pay for stuff without having to arse about with credit cards or cash. I do like that concept a lot.

In fact I think I’d use it tons of times each day.
