Shure’s music-phone-adaptor coming shortly
I knocked an email over to Paul at Shure UK to query what’s happening with Shure’s uber-wicked headphones and support for the rather annoying deep-bevel iPhone headphone jack.
Paul confirmed there’s a Shure MPA (’music phone adaptor’) coming out at the same time as the iPhone in the UK — it’ll be in the Apple stores (good news) and it’ll also be in Carphone Warehouse shortly afterwards — retailing for around £40.
Excellent. I’ll have one of those.

£40? Really? For an extension wire to fit the recess? What else does it do?

£40 is a bit much, but I’ve been very impressed with both the audio and build quality of my Shures so I don’t doubt that it’ll be a top-notch product.

It’s an adaptor with a replacement microphone built in so you can use any headphones. I suppose that justifies some cost, but not why they cost US$40 v £40 - even with additional sales tax in the UK, that’s a hefty transatlantic mark-up!
