Grand plans, grand plans. 35% of SMS Text News readers are from North America. I think I’ve got that stat right. It’s something like that — with another large chunk from the United Kingdom and the rest from across the planet.
So its only fitting that we take SMS Text News Unlimited Drinks to the bastion of the free world.
I’ve been working with Jeb at Brilliant Expos discussing the possibilities. If you’re up for coming along, do let us know. If you’re up for being involved, definitely email me. We’ve a few sponsors interested — if you’d like to put your company in front of the cream of the mobile geniuses in America, do talk to me. As ever, I’m ewan@smstextnews.com.
The first decision for us is working out a location. Los Angeles is heavily favoured; San Francisco; New York also. Hawaii is definitely in with a chance … heh, I originally wrote that as a joke, but I wonder… do you reckon if I put on a mobile industry event in Hawaii, your boss would give you a week off to visit? That could be wicked! Sun, sea, sand and Sony Ericsson. Heh.
Perhaps we should do like the doctors do. Almost every doctor I know is extremely well travelled on account of *having* to attend seminars in far flung 6-star hotels regularly.
I wonder how that might work. We could come up with an event with a title like ‘Knowledge Sharing & Best Practice in the Mobile Industry, produced by SMS Text News’.
4 day event
Day One: Team building and networking at the hotel’s beach bar
Day Two: 3 x 25 minute presentations on the future of the mobile industry followed by ‘networking’ on the beach
Day Three: 3 x 25 minute networking events held whilst scuba diving
Day Four: Round-up and knowledge share over 6 course meal in one of the six hotel restaurant.
Excellent. Sign me up!
Anyway, if you’re in America and you’re up for coming to an SMS Text News Unlimited Drinks event, do post a note here or email me so we can get an idea of numbers and select our first location.

Can we get some votes for Austin Texas? Live music everywhere and possibly more bars per capita than anywhere in the US. It’s about half way between LA and NY.

I vote for New York City, easiest for me to get to since we aren’t having one in Canada! *taps foot*

Definitely would love to attend in San Francisco.
