MsgMe’s self managed mobile media publishing platform

msgme
Matt Silk is Executive Vice President of Waterfall Mobile. We’ve been trading emails ever since he wrote to say he was coming along to this Thursday’s Unlimited Drinks. He mentioned one of their services, MsgMe so I decided to take a look.

I’ve been browsing around MsgMe and I really do like the offering. It’s presented beautifully and, if the actual tool administration systems look anything like the site branding, they’ll be a joy to use.

The service is primarily aimed at publishers — music labels, bands, media companies, venues and marketing agencies — who want point-and-click simplicity for distributing mobile media and interacting via mobile.

While you can buy direct access to a text gateway and build your own tools yourself, it’s often far more effective to look for a middle-layer that takes all the tech nonsense out of the equation.

MsgMe offers a range of tools including:
– subscriptions for scheduled content
– polls & quizzes
– mobile coupons (I should have done a deal with Matt and offered mobile couponing for this week’s Unlimited Drinks!)
– Text2Screen
– Dynamic content
– Web widgets for increasing distribution of mobile content
– Premium content billing system

Setting up looks to be really simple. You just register an account and get playing with the tools.

I like to see and hear about this kind of service, I really do. It needs to look good and be entirely simple to use if marketing professionals are going to start adopting the medium.

I’m going to grab Matt and find out a more about MsgMe on Thursday. It’s massively exciting actually being able to meet people, rather than just email and talk on the phone.

(By the way, if you’ve anyone you think I should meet while I’m here in Los Angeles this week, shoot me a note and introduce me – ewan@smstextnews.com)
