Thief demands $185k mobile ransom; settles for $200

Heh, I picked this one up via TechDirt… you know it’s not going to go well for the thief, just by reading the headline, don’t you?

Apparently, the ridiculousness of the request soon became apparent, as he was quickly negotiated down to $200 ransom. Of course the whole negotiation was taken place with police listening, and so it was the police who greeted him at the transaction location, rather than a woman with $200.

The judge, with a sense of humour, apparently set bail at $185k .. then reduced it to $100k.
