I am now a Sprint customer

sprint
I have weighed the mobile operators in the US.

I have measured them.

And I have found ‘em wanting. All except Sprint.

So I am now Sprinting Ahead with them.

My number in the States? +1 415 305 4926. (Do give me a call if you feel minded and fancy a chat; I’ll try and answer whenever I am able — sleep excepting)

I walked into each of the stores here in San Francisco and gave each mobile operator the opportunity to pitch to me via their sales persons.

Only Sprint came out tops.

Everyone else was dire.

Dire.

I mean absolutely Class-A-Shit. Let’s not mince words. I made my enquiries repeatedly and via multiple stores across multiple days to minimise the possibilities of one-off exceptions.

America. Land of the customer. The customer is always right. Unless, that is, he’s a prepay customer.

More on this to come. I’m still letting the experiences percolate around my mind to form them into words and I don’t think I’ll do them justice right now. I need to make sure I accurately remember my level of outrage, disbelieve and ‘geez, I’m going to write-about-this’ shock.

The shining light was — is — Sprint. Kudos to Clarence Arcala at the Sprint store in the Stonestown Mall — he helped me initially with an overview of Sprint and a bit of an in-depth discussion. Then thanks to Zay at the Sprint store at 399 Market Street who helped me make my purchase.

Right. More soon.

Meanwhile if you fancy texting or calling for a natter I’m on +1 415 305 4926.

  • Hi Ewan,

Can’t wait to read your next post. How does it feel to be a CDMA customer with the locks american carriers have put up? I am sticking to GSM in Montreal despie the outrageous rates here. I can’t stand the way Bell and Telus are locking in CDMA users.

    Thank you for keeping posting,

  • Fascinating that you would have chosen Sprint, Ewan.

Out of curiosity, what phone did you end up with, and how did you manage to get Sprint without a contract?

  • Which phone did you get?
