A local consumer group is urging the Palace to reject plans to classify short messaging service (SMS) or text messaging as a ’sin” product.
‘The government should make a public stand regarding this issue in view of the insinuations made by the trade secretary and big business groups,” TXTPower president Anthony Ian Cruz said in a statement. ‘Does the Palace share their view that texting should be considered as sin products as tobacco and alcohol?”
Local consumer group TXTPower urged consumers Thursday to reject anew the government’s suggestion to revive plans to impose taxes on every text message sent by millions of Filipino mobile phone subscribers.
