Verizon was apparently feeling a bit left out of the CES excitement, so they decided to drop a top ten list on us to change things up a bit. These were the most downloaded games of 2007, and were limited to games that were introduced in 2007, so there won’t be any repeats from 2006. Without further ado:

1. Tetris (new 2007 version)
2. Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? (seriously?)
3. Guitar Hero III
4. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
5. Need for Speed Prostreet 3D
6. Diner Dash 2 (my fiance’s personal favorite)
7. Assassin’s Creed
8. Madden NFL ‘08
9. The Simpsons
10. God of War: Betrayal

I’m actually impressed with all but the ‘Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader’. There’s a healthy mix of trivia, action, sports, and strategy games. I also think it’s fascinating that with the innovative games that we have available now, and the awesome graphics and whatnot, that Tetris STILL manages to top gaming lists, even in 2007. That game was introduced for the first time in 1985.

I’m also impressed that Guitar Hero III made the list, and in the top 3, no less! This game was only announced towards the end of the year, and is an exclusive to Verizon Wireless.

Overall, though, the list impresses me, as there’s some involved and intense games listed. Have you played any of these?
