Tracking Stuff in Mobile

Bango launches mobile analytics service

This will be of interest to anyone with a mobile service who doesn’t yet have sufficiently useful analytics. Bango Analytics operates as a hosted service (yours for 599 pounds per month). Obviously Bango have done a substantial amount of work profiling the millions of users that pass through their servers — so they’re in a pretty good position to give a good perspective on how active your mobile site is.

The price is a bit steep, I think. But it’s free for up to 10,000 page hits per month — I might even stick it on smstextnews.com and see what we can find out.

Until then, feast on the service features:

Bango Analytics overcomes the limitations of traditional web analytics by capturing mobile specific data about website visitors. This data includes the users’ country, network and handset, whether they have visited before and, for example, if the last ten visits were from one individual or ten new visitors.

Bango collects data unique to mobile because of its close connection with mobile networks around the world. It has developed a persistent, reliable and unique user ID system - the digital fingerprint - which is invaluable in tracking visitors.

Bango also makes it easy to add tags into the mobile site to identify traffic from advertising campaigns and search keywords. The data can be exported by the site owner and analyzed to determine the return on investment from each campaign.

Bango Analytics provides answers to the following questions:

o How many unique visitors did I have to my mobile site today?
o What phones are they using?
o What networks in which countries do my visitors use?
o Which content was the most popular?
o Which search term gives the best results?
o What’s my total return on investment from a marketing campaign?

  • Ewan,

Let us know how it goes when you get signed up. I did a review today on our Mobile Web Analytics blog at http;//www.mobilewebanalytics.net. I had a difficult time understanding how to connect it to my mobile site.

As you know, we have launched Mobilytics into beta, and we are looking for more testers. Mobilytics will be free by showing an ad on the mobile site, and we even give our users 70% of the ad revenue. (same cut as networks, plus they get analytics)

We also have a paid version for our partners that do not want to display ads on their sites. Mobilytics will cost pennies (or shillings/pence is it?) compared to Bango, with many more features for the mobile web site publisher.

I’ll send you a beta invite in the next few days so you can

    Greg
